3M and DEUS Self Rescue (Demo)

This video is a demonstration of Self Rescue with the 3700 Controlled Descent device from 3M and DEUS Rescue. The basic procedure after a fall with a pre-rigged 3M and DEUS 3000 Series Controlled Descent Device and Rescue system follows these steps:

  1. Deploy pre-attached suspension trauma strap and step into it
  2. Have the kit lowered to the following person
  3. Attach kit and trauma strap to the side key ring
  4. Connect the descent device to your harness
  5. Extend enough rope from the 3M and DEUS 3000 series controlled descent device in order to reach the eyelet of the lanyard
  6. Reach up and attach the rope from the 3M and DEUS 3000 series controlled descent device with the pre-rigged connector to the backside of the eyelet of the lanyard
  7. Remove any slack in the system and place the 3M and DEUS 3000 series into the stop mode
  8. Reach up and attach a secondary suspension trauma strap to the backside of the eyelet of the lanyard
  9. Step up into the second suspension trauma strap to eliminate enough pressure to allow you to disconnect your harness from the lanyard
  10. Reach up and disconnect the lanyard from your harness
  11. Slowly lower yourself on to the 3M and DEUS 3000 series carefully managing the transition from unloaded to loaded rope so as not to impact load the rope of the descent device
  12. Descend under manual or automatic control using the 3M and DEUS 3000 series descent device to control your descent speed

ANSI-, CSA-, and EN- rated for 590 ft (180 m) descents, the 3700 is designed for individual escape, assisted rescue and multi-person evacuation in a variety of at-height work environments.
